Bid Whist
Bid Whist is a partnership, trick-taking variant of the classic card game Whist. As indicated by the name, Bid Whist adds a bidding element to the game that is not present in classic Whist.

Bingo
Bingo helps seniors to stay engaged while maintaining focus and mental acuity. Bingo gives seniors a chance to socialize. Participants pay a quarter per game. Join a retired historical scholar who has taught at US and Canadian universities, held the position of Command Historian at Fort Liberty, and published a number of peer-reviewed articles. Mahjong
Similar to a game of rummy, Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy, and luck. The game is played with a set of 144 tiles based on Chinese characters and symbols. Requires four players. In most variations, each player begins by receiving 13 tiles. Individuals must provide their own cards.

Maribel's Hem and Stitch
Due to class size, available space, and different levels of sewing knowledge, it can be challenging to meet the needs of everyone effectively. To alleviate some of these issues, as of November 1st, you will be required to pre-register for Maribel’s Hem & Stitch. You will be registering for the entire month. There will be a maximum of 12 participants only. No walk-ins will be accepted.
Requirements for the class include:

Matter of Balance
This award winning program is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase the activity levels of older adults who have concerns about falls. Classes help participants learn to: view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals for increasing activity, change their environment to reduce risk factors, and promote exercise to increase strength and balance. Classes are designed to benefit community-dwelling older adults who: are concerned about falls, have sustained a fall in the past, restrict activities because of concerns about falling, are interested in improving flexibility, balance and strength, are age 60 or older, ambulatory and able to problem-solve. Pre-registration is required and participants must commit to attending at least 6 of the 8 class sessions.

Chair Aerobics, Line Dance and Stretch Class
Guidelines recommend 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week. Yin Yoga

This facility features a three-lane warm water pool with an all-around depth of a maximum of 4 feet with a zero-level entrance.

AARP Driver’s Safety Class
This course teaches proven driving techniques to keep you and your loved ones safe on the road. Participants will learn important facts about the effects of medication on driving, how to reduce driving distractions, proper following distance, age-related physical changes/how to adjust your driving to compensate, and proper use of seat belts, air bags, anti-lock brakes, and new technology found in cars today.

“Be My Valentine” Dance
This is our 3rd Annual dance. Seniors, bring that someone special or a friend, partner, spouse or significant other and have some fun! There will be music, refreshments and more. Space is limited be sure to buy your ticket early. Tickets will be on sale Dec. 16-Jan. 24.

National Walking Day
Seniors, come take a walk in the park and join the staff of the Bill Crisp Senior Center in honor of National Walking Day. National Walking Day is exactly as it sounds — a day to celebrate the easiest way to be the healthiest version of you. Walking for thirty to sixty minutes per day may sound like it isn’t much, but studies have shown it can drastically help prevent ailments, increase blood flow to your brain and improve your mood! Let’s see how many miles we can walk smiling together this year! Snacks and water provided but you may bring your own. We will walk the trails of Lake Rim Park. Participants will meet at Bill Crisp Senior Center to sign in.

Music on the Lawn
Bring your lawn chair and enjoy a Saturday afternoon listening to jazz music. We will also have live music. Concessions will be available for purchase by Dee’s Champion Cuisine.

Senior Programs Fishing Derby
Trophies awarded for the largest catch and most caught. This is a catch and release event, held at the Pechmann Fishing Education Center, 7489 Old Raeford Road. Rod, bait, tackle, and light refreshments provided.

Join the Bill Crisp Senior Center in celebrating National Senior Citizens Month. Your donations, no matter how small can create a significant impact. We appreciate your support. Help us make a difference in a senior’s life. Suggested items needed: socks, hygiene products, books, pens, notepads, blankets, gloves, t-shirts, scarfs, hats, umbrellas, crossword puzzles, word search. (Request items to be new). Please drop off items at the Bill Crisp Senior Center, 7560 Raeford Road.
