Bid Whist
Bid Whist is a partnership trick-taking variant of the classic card game whist. As indicated by the name, Bid Whist adds a bidding element to the game that is not present in classic Whist. Whist is all about art, style, tradition — and smack talking. It's also a gathering point for friends to throw down at the card table.

Billiards Class
The Art of Billiards taught by a Certified Professional. Come out and learn proper techniques, how to properly and efficiently read the pool table, setting up your next shot, performing bank shots and much, much more. Please call or stop by the center to register.

Billiards Room
Sharpen your mind with a game of pool. Those who frequently play billiards and pool often have clearer minds. This game is 90 percent mental and the remainder is physical. Join others in a game of pool and enjoy the afternoon while meeting new friends here at the Senior Center East. Billiards is an activity also played at the Senior Games, so come and brush up on your skills and play on one to two billiards tables at Senior Center East.

Bingo
Bingo helps seniors to stay engaged while maintaining focus and mental acuity while providing the opportunity to socialize. Bingo is free to play on Tues. and participants pay quarters to play on Mon. and Thurs. Winnings go to the winning participant(s) of each game.

Canasta
Want to learn a new card game or maybe you are a seasoned canasta vet! Join us at Senior Center East playing Canasta for all levels. Canasta is a card game where players try to score points by declaring sets of cards that contain seven or more of the same rank and is from the rummy playing family. Come play weekly.

Chess Club
Want to improve your cognitive skills and memory capacity? Need to improve your patience and critical thinking? If so, take some time out to meet new friends and play a game of chess. Once you learn the basic rules, chess is a fun and challenging game. One of the best parts is just how different the next game will be.

Advanced Duplicate Bridge
Bridge is a trick-taking card game using a standard 52-card deck. In its basic format, it is played by four players in two competing partnerships, with partners sitting opposite each other around a table. It promotes healthy aging and therefore makes it an ideal game for seniors. Bridge provides a cognitive workout and an opportunity for social interaction weekly at the Senior Center East.

Mahjong
Similar to a game of rummy, Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy, and luck that is growing in popularity. It is played with a set of 144 tiles based on Chinese characters and requires four players. Mahjong may provide good mental health benefits, develop cognitive skills and provides a great opportunity to socialize and make new friends. Participants may provide their own cards. Come learn to play on Fridays.

Pokeno
This is a combination of Bingo and Poker sure to engage your mind and great for socialization. A single game has five possible ways to win and is played with a deck of playing cards. Each player pays five cents for each pot totaling 25 cents each game. Maximum of 12 players. Bring your nickels and let’s play!

Scrabble

Seniors in Bookland - Book Club
A group of Seniors will meet to discuss a book or books that they have read and express their opinions, likes, and dislikes. The book for the month will be posted every month in the Senior Center East newsletter. Participants will be responsible for acquiring their own reading materials. Spades
So you say you can play Spades... A traditionally 4 player card game of strategy and luck. Spades uses a standard 52 card deck with Aces high, 2s low, and Spades trumping all. Spades is a trick-taking card game with the objective to take the number of tricks that were bid before play of the hand began. Spades will help improve your memory, sharpen your mind while you build new relationships and the opportunity to socialize with others.

Better Health Clinic
Do you or a loved one have diabetes or pre-diabetes? Do you have concerns of being diabetic? Come to Senior Center East for 2nd Friday Better Health Clinics. Come for a simple, fun and educational checkup. They will be offering free weight checks, blood glucose and blood pressure checks completed by a registered nurse. Best of all, this is free to you.

Aqua Fitness

Chair Yoga
Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that can be done while sitting. Some poses can also be done standing using a chair for support. Line Dance
Join the fun in line dancing. Line dancing is a great form of exercise for seniors to expand strength and muscle function, helps with memory improvement, increases balance and flexibility as well as improve cardiovascular and heart health. Learn old as well as new line dances while you exercise without knowing it!

Matter of Balance
This award winning program is designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase the activity levels of older adults who have concerns about falls. Classes help participants learn to: view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals for increasing activity, change their environment to reduce risk factors, and promote exercise to increase strength and balance. Classes are designed to benefit community-dwelling older adults who: are concerned about falls, have sustained a fall in the past, restrict activities because of concerns about falling, are interested in improving flexibility, balance and strength, are age 60 or older, ambulatory and able to problem-solve. Pre-registration is required and participants must commit to attending at least 6 of the 8 class sessions.

Movers and Groovers Walking Club
Join other seniors from Senior Center East with getting your steps in. We will meet at Senior Center East every Wednesday and walk together for a common goal, staying healthy and active. Pickle Ball
Seniors looking for some great exercise for the mind and body, Pickle ball is the game to try. This sport combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong using a paddle and plastic ball with holes. Beginners who just want to learn something new, or seasonal players craving competitive play, this is the place. Come give it a try!

Racquetball
Racquetball can be a good exercise for older adults because it's low impact, can be played at any age, and can help with upper- and lower-body strength. Racquetball is a weight-bearing exercise that can help slow bone loss. It also improves coordination, agility, balance, explosiveness, and suppleness.

Senior Tai Chi - Balance in Motion
Tai Chi provides an excellent framework to improve your health by increasing your strength, flexibility and balance through slow purposeful movement. Classes are every Thursday.

Water Walking Club
Get your water shoes on and come join us weekly for some water walking. Walking in the water is good for the heart and circulation in a low-impact way. It's easy on the joints, and as your joints strengthen, you can transition to water exercise. You will be walking in warm water which is great for arthritic and joint movement.

Seniors can exercise at their own pace using a variety of equipment. Fitness room will be open during normal center hours, and closes 15 minutes prior to building closing time.

Senior 55+ Indoor Warm Water Pool
This facility features a three-lane warm water pool with an all-around depth of a maximum of 5 feet with a zero-level entrance.Please Note
- Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire must be filled out prior to use of the aquatic facility.
- Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire must be renewed on an annual basis. * Please note that if participants answer yes to two or more of the 11 health questions, a written authorization is required from the individual’s medical provider prior to beginning exercise.
- Please bring your own towel for use.
- There is NO lifeguard on duty in or around the pool.
- Participants acknowledge that they should never swim alone, and therefore are highly encouraged to utilize a "buddy system" at all times.

Swim Lessons for Seniors
Want to learn how to swim in your golden years? Come learn at Senior Center East in our heated indoor swimming pool. Sign up for 6 classes and learn the basics of how to swim and be safe in the water. Classes will be Mon., Wed. and Fri. for two weeks. Sign ups will be on the 15th of each month for the following month.
