Seniors, walk in a safe and comfortable environment. If you’re getting back on your feet after surgery or just wanting to stay in shape, the Westover Recreation Center is open for walkers.

Senior Cards

The Art of Mehndi, Henna Body Art

Interested in learning more about the beautiful art of Henna! In each of the 2 hour, hands on classes you will learn the history and science of henna, pattern elements and design concepts; and different application techniques. Supplies and refreshments provided. Pre-registration is required.

Teen Connections (BART)

 A 12 week program for teens ages 14-18 that teaches medically-accurate health information to empower young people to become a responsible teen. The program focuses on teen-pregnancy prevention, and training youth as leaders and peer health educators. Once teens graduate from Teen Connections, they earn a $100 stipend.

Wise Guys

 A 12 week program for middle school aged boys that is aimed to prevent adolescent pregnancy by teaching self-responsibility, goal setting, and decision making. Once teens graduate from Wise Guys, they earn a $50 stipend.

Smart Girls

 A 12 week program for middle school aged girls that encourages participants to explore their attitudes, feelings and values about self-esteem, relationships, and dating behavior to promote healthy decision making. Once teens graduate from Smart Girls, they earn a $50 stipend.

Swing Dance Class

This class is designed to teach a wide variety of dance styles and techniques to a new age sound. This program offers a night filled with exhilarating and enjoyable dance, giving participants the opportunity to meet new people in a safe and comfortable environment. Ru Ru’s Teen Dance Class

This youth dance program is designed to provide proper etiquette, leadership and social skills. These skills are learned through a variety of dance styles. We invite you to come out and join us for a night filled with fun and
excitement. This is also a great opportunity for your child to meet new friends in a great environment. Class Motto: We Encourage, Not Discourage!!

Pilipino“street survival” Martial Arts class designed to teach you discipline, physical fitness, build confidence, enhance your awareness and improve your academic focus.

Little Hitters

Want to get your pre-school child involved in sports? This is a beginner T-Ball program for 3 & 4 year olds. Your child will learn the basic rules as well as develop their motor skills and learn about teamwork. Each child will be placed on a team. Teams will practice and play in non-competitive games against other teams. Parents are strongly encouraged to assist and play taking an active role in their child’s development; Registration runs Jan 2- March 2; proof of age; three proofs of residency.

(B.A.R.T) Be A Responsible Teen

 This is an 11-week open communication session that is geared towards teenagers that provides them the opportunity to open up and discuss topics of interest such as assertive communication, substance abuse, peer pressure, healthy relationships and understanding self worth. Parental consent form must be completed. Session begin Jan. 10.

Making Proud Choices

 Making Proud Choices! Gives teens the skills, knowledge, and confidence to make healthy decisions. Teens will get the tools they need to clarify their own values about sexual activity; make decisions that will help them avoid becoming infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS; and learn skills to put their decisions into action.  Making Proud Choices! Includes additional training classes on Healthy Relationships and Communication, Contraception, and STI prevention. Participant’s ages 14-18 will complete a free 4 week training program, that will take place after school and dinner will be provided. Help a Military Warrior

Interested in helping a local combat wounded hero enjoy hunting or fishing? Please join us for our monthly planning meetings. We work to provide encouragement and opportunities for our local heroes, and their families to be able to enjoy outdoor hunting and fishing activities. We are the local all-volunteer chapter of Military Warrior Support Foundation (militarywarriors.org) a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity that provides support for local combat wounded heroes and Gold Star Families. We also seek volunteers to serve as mentors, help raise funds and provide support for the local program. You like fast cars? Driving fast? Well get your remote control cars warmed up and come on out and see just how fast your car is and how good of a driver you are. Race track driving, drag racing, etc. Racing takes place outside on pretty days or in gym during bad weather.

Egg Coloring Contest

Bike Safety Program

May is National Bicycle Safety month. Come and join us as we teach the community about bike safety and equipment fitting. Local sponsors have come together to do safety training sessions and assist with bike assembly. We will even host a bike parade through the neighborhood with safety crossing guards. 4 donated bikes will be raffled off. The first 75 persons to register for the bicycle parade will receive a free goodie bag. This event is brought to you by Lake Rim and Westover Recreation Centers. Contact either site for more details.

Halloween Trunk-A-Treat Vendors

Calling all community citizens and businesses, want to help us create a safe Halloween environment for the kids to collect candy and have fun? Reserve a parking space and decorate your vehicle, then be prepared to pass treats and goodies out to the kids as the walk through collecting treats from vender’s trunks.
